Special Education/Preschool & Early Intervention
Special Education Teacher
Work with children up to the age of five in a center-based setting. Prepare IEPs or IFSPs and progress reports for each child. Meet with parents, involve them in their child's activities and progress, direct teacher assistants.
Requirements:
NYS Certification in Special Education. Dual Certification in Early Childhood and Special Education a plus. Master's degree in Special Education or Early Childhood Special Education experience preferred. Bilingual Extension required for bilingual positions.
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) Special Education Teacher
Work with children up to the age of five in home and community-based settings. Develop and administer curriculum assessments. Maintain daily data collection. Work with parents; involve them in their child's activities and progress.
Requirements:
NYS Special Education Certification and Master's degree in Special Education (or in process). Minimum of eighteen months’ experience. Training as an ABA home-based teacher serving children diagnosed with PDD/Autism is essential. Knowledge and application of ABA and fluency within DTT and NET also required.
Home-based Special Education Teachers (Full Time & Fee for Service)
Early Intervention & SEIT (Special Education Itinerant Teacher)
Work with children up to the age of five in home- and community-based settings. Work with parents as necessary; involve them in their child's activities and progress.
Requirements:
NYS Certification in Special Education, Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education and two years of classroom teaching experience. Dual Certification in Early Childhood and Special Education a plus.
Teacher Assistant
Perform duties assigned by the lead teacher. Participate in the children’s’ educational planning as well as parent/teacher conferences. Assist in ensuring the health and safety of children in your group.
Requirements:
Must be eligible for NYS Teacher Assistant Certification with a minimum of eighteen college credits. Applicants should be pursuing degree in Special Education and have experience working with Early Intervention and Preschool children. Knowledge of developmental disabilities is preferred.
Social Worker
Provide play therapy and counseling to young children with developmental delays aged birth to five years. Participate and lead parent groups. Assist families in social service areas as needed. Provide interventions including follow-up, case closing, and referrals.
Requirements:
Licensed Social Worker (LMSW) and NYS School Social Worker Certification are essential, as is clinical and administrative experience. Experience with Early Childhood population is a must.
School Psychologist
Annually assess and evaluate children up to the age of five. Coordinate, participate in and lead parent groups and family sessions. Provide play therapy and counseling.
Requirements:
Master's degree in School Psychology and NYS School Psychology Certification. Experience with Special Education and Early Childhood population strongly preferred.
Service Coordinator
Assess current and changing needs of children from birth to five years and their families. Communicate with parents. Follow up with service providers, staff, and family to discuss progress of child. Help families obtain entitlements. Liaison with NYC Early Intervention Officials and Committee for Preschool Education (CPSE) administration.
Requirements:
Master's degree in Social Work. Experience working with young children and knowledge of Early Intervention and Service Coordination is a must. Some positions require home visits. Good organizational and writing skills are essential.
Committee for Preschool Education (CPSE) Liaison
Liaison with CPSE/ CSE district personnel regarding intakes, evaluations, and referrals. Maintain accurate, organized, up-to-date records on all students. Advocate and encourage family participation in all decision-making affecting the child.
Requirements:
NYS Special Education Certification. Master's degree in Special Education preferred. Classroom teaching experience, knowledge of CPSE and CSE, and excellent organizational skills required.
Adaptive Physical Education Teacher
Work with the principal and senior therapist in an early intervention/preschool program. Design and implement an Adaptive Physical Education program for children with developmental disabilities up to the age of five. Work with classroom teachers and PT to maximize each child's physical capabilities.
Requirements:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Adaptive Physical Education. NYS Certification strongly preferred. Experience with early childhood population is a must.
